Hong Kong REITS Association (HKREITA) welcomes the initiatives outlined in the 2026 Policy Address to further develop Hong Kong’s REIT market. The initiatives span market accessibility, regulatory enhancement and product innovation, including facilitating REIT privatisation and restructuring, providing a stamp duty waiver for the transfer of non-residential properties into listing REITs, streamlining processes for quality overseas REITs seeking a dual listing in Hong Kong, promoting innovation in fund products, as well as seeking early inclusion of REITs under mutual market access arrangements.
The proposed stamp duty waiver for REIT property transfers reflects one of the recommendations set out in the market research report jointly published by HKREITA and Deloitte China in 2024, underscoring the value of ongoing dialogue between the industry and policymakers. HKREITA remains committed to working with the HKSAR Government, regulators and market participants to support the continued development of Hong Kong's REIT market and effective implementation of these initiatives.
